Open Call: Artworks in Response to Ir Amim’s Policy Paper “Hope from Jerusalem”

Join us in envisioning a different future for Jerusalem. Ir Amim invites Jerusalemite Palestinian, Israeli, and international artists to respond to our Hope from Jerusalem document with original works in any artistic discipline and medium.

Even as violence escalates, despair deepens, and solutions feel increasingly out of reach, we have published a policy document presenting our 13 principles for a future vision of a free, democratic, and safe Jerusalem for all its residents.

While many see Jerusalem as an explosive issue best avoided, we see it as the engine that can drive positive change between the river and the sea, and as the place from which that change can emerge.

We believe that art in Jerusalem has the power to strengthen social and political struggle, transform space, resist, expand perspectives and solidarity across communities, and bring this vision one step closer to reality.

We invite you to read our document, engage with it deeply, and respond to it in whatever form speaks to you.

Technical Details
Selected artworks will be presented on the Hope from Jerusalem minisite and will be publicly accessible alongside the document itself and various position papers on the subject. Please note that the works will initially be presented in a digital rather than a physical format, and will later also be included in a temporary exhibition. Beyond this, there are no restrictions regarding medium or content. Artists are welcome to submit newly created works developed in response to the document, as well as existing works that engage with the document’s themes and with Jerusalem. Selected works will be accompanied by a text explaining the work itself and its process of creation. This text will be presented in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

Who We Are
Ir Amim is a non-partisan Jerusalem-based NGO working toward an equitable and democratic Jerusalem, and sees the city as the present-day home and future capital of both peoples.

Submission Requirements
– The artwork itself or a detailed description of it.
– A short text (up to 300 words) explaining the work and its relationship to the document.
